5 Tricks To Getting Exterior Painting Done In A Timely Manner in Arlington, VA

When you are looking to paint the exterior of your home, you can be assured that it is going to be a process that will be quite lengthy — depending on how many people help you, it could be a number of weeks.

Of course, it is notable that if you are careful with your preparation and generally get a good knowledge of what you are going to be doing before you start the endeavor, the project can be done in a more timely manner.

With that being the case, here are five tricks to getting exterior painting done in a timely manner in Arlington, VA.

1. Measure Twice, Paint Once

When it comes to painting the exterior of a home, there are quite a lot of measurements that have to be made, and though they may seem to be tedious and unnecessary, taking them down is one of the ways you can save time in painting the exterior of your home.

There are a couple of good reasons why you are going to want to know the measurements of your home — one being that by knowing the measurements of your home, you are going to be able to calculate how much paint you will need for the painting project.

While it is true that you can always go over and get too much paint and thus not run out, that is a less than ideal option as you are then going to be spending too much and have a bunch of paint leftover that you will not need for anything.

Moreover, if you know the measurements of your home you will be able to properly make time to paint it and not underestimate on how long it will actually take.

2. Do Not Try To Rush Through Painting

Though it might sound counter-intuitive, it actually will damage the painting process in the long run if you try to rush through your painting.

If you try to paint too quickly, for example, you are going to find that it’s entirely possible that you will not properly apply paint to the exterior of your home — you might apply the paint too thin or too thick, and that is bound to leave you with issues sometime down the road.

The best thing you can do is to take your time while you are painting so that you do not for example even spill paint as you are painting.

3. Carefully Cover The Areas Where You Are Painting

Though you might not think about the preparation and protection as related to your being able to get the painting work done in a timely manner, it actually can — when you think about how the protection of the grounds near your home can have an impact on the project itself.

If you do not, for example, take the time to protect the plant-life that is near your home and you then subsequently get paint on it, it will be difficult if not impossible to remove it.

Make the time to get the appropriate tarps and other protective coverings for the areas near where you will be painting and even though it takes time to set up, you won’t have to then later take the time to clean up as much.

4. Use A Paint Pail Instead Of A Paint Tray

There are really only two ways to paint using a paint roller if you get down to it — you can use a paint tray, or you can use a paint pail.

A paint pail is a superior way to get paint to your paint roller in a number of ways — one being that it is a lot easier to carry around a paint pail without spilling paint.

Another is that when you line a paint pail, you will have virtually no issues in cleaning up after you are done for the day.

5. Delegate The Project Well

A big problem that people will have with a major painting project such as an exterior painting project is that they fail to delegate — three people could be helping you, but if each of them thinks that they are doing the same thing it doesn’t help.

Better to lay out from the beginning what each person is going to be doing so that it is clear and not let people wonder what they will be doing at any given moment.
